Working life co-operation is important and on-the-job learning is a part of studies. New courses have been started with an ear to the needs of working life.
International co-operation has increased significantly in recent years and our work has been awarded a certificate of international mobility. On-the-job learning abroad is increasing – about 100 of our students travel to Continental Europe every year, and almost 80 foreign students correspondingly come to Kouvola to study.
The decades-long traditions of competitions continue. Competitions that develop professional skills have become an established part of our activities.
Over the years, success has been achieved in competitions in many different fields at Finnish, European and global levels. We are also involved in the Kouvola Sports Academy.
Projects and co-operative programmes are part of our operations. They help us to improve our teaching. Usually external funding from authorities or other organisations is sought in order to implement them. The Vocational College almost always takes part in projects by investing a certain share of the funding itself. The college’s largest projects are EU-funded.
We offer a wide range of services. The Vocational College has two hairdressing establishments, Pikkusakset in Utinkatu and Hairmanni in the city centre, as well as two teaching restaurants, Pikkukokki in Utinkatu and Amora in Kuusankoski. There are also a large number of cafés at different sites. It is also possible to buy products and repair services, for example, from many of the departments.
KSAO Adult Education Centre is part of KSAO, offering vocational adult education for the needs of working life.
